Dubai Production City, formerly the International Media Production Zone, is a free zone near Al Khail Road combining residential and office towers with light industrial and media-production facilities. It was largely developed from the mid-2000s. Manolia completed MEP for a 2B+G+15 tower with gym here. Plots here are mid-sized and tightly spaced, with towers sharing service roads and neighbouring construction sites.

• Projects fall under the Dubai Development Authority (DDA) approval channel, with Civil Defence review of fire and life safety systems.
• Towers with two basement levels need car park ventilation, sump pumps, and drainage designed for groundwater and stormwater ingress.
• The area is inland and dusty, so condenser cleaning and filter access are planned into the design.

Scope of work

• Load schedule review against the utility application, confirming connected load, diversity and future spare capacity before the main board is ordered.
• Installation of main and sub-main distribution boards, busbar risers or armoured cable risers, and final distribution boards per floor.
• Power connections to HVAC plant, pumps, lifts, fire systems and kitchen equipment with correct isolation and protection.
• Insulation resistance, continuity, RCD and loop impedance testing, followed by utility inspection and energisation.

• External lighting and landscape power in villas and podiums face irrigation water, heat and sand, so IP-rated fittings, sealed junction boxes and buried cable protection are specified to avoid tripping RCDs after the first watering cycles.
• Level of spare capacity in boards and risers, which supports future tenant changes and new loads but increases initial cost and panel size.
